Why you need a reference plus thermometer

Regular thermometers can drift over time, so their accuracy needs to be checked periodically. A reference (or master) thermometer is the tool used to do that job. Paired with a stable temperature source like a dry-well comparator, it gives you a trusted reading you can compare against the thermometer you're testing — so you know exactly how far off it is, and whether it's still within tolerance. Much like the ETI Reference Thermometer, this boasts all of the same qualities, plus the additional access to max/min readings and hold functions for easy recording.
